University Libraries’ Upgraded Website Offers New Features
Recently, Kent State University Libraries launched a redesigned website, located at www.library.kent.edu, to reflect the university's new branding initiative. The features of the new site have been designed to make University Libraries experience more convenient, enjoyable and rewarding for the entire Kent State community.
The streamlined Discovery@Kent State universal search bar allows users to search the entire catalog including KentLINK, OhioLINK and a wealth of digital collections and materials, rather than having to navigate across search platforms.
Goodbye VPN. Hello KSU Proxy.
Users no longer need to download the VPN to access materials while off-campus. Accessing University Libraries’ resources is simple with the new KSU Proxy. While off campus, entering a FlashLine username and password when prompted gains users access to the entire catalog, including journals, databases, e-books and more, from wherever they are.
Looking for OhioLINK?
OhioLINK is no longer a separate direct link on the home page. Users can search Discovery@Kent State for more complete statewide results, including e-books and digital materials that may not be indexed by the old OhioLINK catalog search. Of course, OhioLINK can still be accessed the traditional way through the "Research Tools" drop-down menu.
At Your Fingertips
The “How can we help you?” menu lists several of the most popular features and sought-after services. The colorful and dynamic central mosaic highlights and celebrates the many services, people and events that are part of the vibrant University Libraries community.
Virtually Visit Each Kent Campus Library
Visitors also can explore Kent State’s four branch libraries and the Special Collections and Archives department with the accordion-styled listing, complete with operating hours, map and directions.
Google Translation capabilities allow University Libraries’ web pages to be translated into numerous languages, offering greater access to Kent State’s vast international community.
The new site is the always-open gateway to the many items and services that Kent State University Libraries has to offer. Browse and access a vast array of digital materials and media holdings through the site, from e-books and classic Daily Kent Stater issues, to the vivid and rich history found in the May 4 Collections.
Whether on- or off-campus, you can chat with a librarian through the live, interactive service, which connects you to one of our friendly and helpful library staff members.
