Obituary for Margaret Vasey Dixon

Margaret Isabella Dixon (nee Vasey) passed away Aug. 17 of complications during heart surgery. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Oct. 25, 1950, she was the third of four children born to the late Joanne Hall Vasey and Robert Bruce Vasey. After graduating from Chagrin Falls High School, she went on to receive a B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. from Kent State University. She served as an English professor at Kent State for 25 years and had a remarkable impact on her students. She genuinely empathized with young people just beginning their collegiate careers. However, her greatest passion was her family; husband John and sons Samuel and Spencer.

Margie was preceded in death by her mother, Joanne Hall Vasey, her father, Robert Bruce Vasey, and her brother, Charles Bruce Vasey. She is survived by her husband of 25 years John Emerson Dixon, sons Samuel Crosser Dixon and Spencer Bach Dixon all of Rootstown, Ohio, sister Ann Mitchell Vasey, brother Roger Crosser Vasey (Deborah) all of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and numerous extended family members. A private family memorial will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Lifebanc. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.woodkortright-borkoski.com.
