Changes to Introductory CS Sequence UnderwayPosted Aug. 3, 2010
To Computer Science Majors and potential Majors/Minors,
The Department of Computer Science is planning to make changes to the introductory Computer Science course sequence. Specifically, we will be changing the first course for Computer Science Majors.
This Fall 2010 CS 10051 Introduction to Computer Science will NO longer be a prerequisite for CS 23021 Computer Science I: Programming & Problem Solving. CS 23021 will be revised slightly to address the small number of important concepts that CS 10051 previously covered. Therefore, students planning to take CS 23021 can enroll without previously taking CS 10051.
Computer Science Majors/Minors can still take CS 10051 if they wish and it will count as Kent Core/LER credit. This course is undergoing revisions and will appeal to all KSU students. We feel that along with other students, CS majors will find this new course enjoyable as a general Kent Core/LER elective.
Students not planning on a Computer Science major/minor, or others needing CS 23021, will not be impacted by this change.
You will need permission to take CS 23021 without previously taking CS 10051. To schedule an appointment with a Computer Science Advisor please contact the Computer Science Main Office:
