Biological Sciences
Welcome to the Department of Biological Sciences at Kent State University. We are a large, active department focused on the science of life with multiple undergraduate and graduate degree programs and a strong research mission. Students and faculty conduct original research to address pressing concerns ranging from human disease to ecology. We offer a wide array of coursework for both majors and non-majors including unique study abroad opportunities.

Undergraduate Programs

The Department of Biological Sciences offers a stimulating Undergraduate Biology Program that includes a Bachelor of Arts in Biology or a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Botany, Environmental and Conservation Biology, Medical Technology, and Zoology.  We offer a variety of exciting courses, including study abroad, as well as undergraduate research opportunities.

Graduate Programs

The Department of Biological Sciences at Kent State University offers Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Cell Biology, Ecology, and Physiology that reflect the research expertise of our faculty. We also offer an innovative coursework-based Master of Arts (MA) degree. Students interested in the MS and PhD programs have the opportunity to engage in research with internationally recognized faculty. In addition to our more biomedical research-based programs in Cell Biology and Physiology, students interested a degree in Biomedical Sciences can apply to graduate school through the School of Biomedical Sciences.
