The Department of Pan-African Studies would like to welcome nationally and internationally known author and scholar, Dr. Michael Gomez. Dr. Gomez will be presenting a lecture in Oscar Ritche Hall on September 14 at 7pm. There will be a reception at 6pm in the ORH foyer.

12th Annual Symposium on Democracy, April 28-29
Kent State University presents the 12th Annual Symposium on Democracy. Held in commemoration of the events of May 4, 1970, the symposium takes place April 28-29 in Oscar Ritchie Hall and is sponsored by the university’s Department of History, Department of Pan-African Studies and Women’s Studies Program, with funding from the Office of the President and the College of Arts and Sciences.

Kent State Presents Lecture on Ireland on March 8
Kent State University will present a lecture on “Ireland’s Crisis and its Lessons for the EU and America” by Dr. Sean Kay, chair of the International Studies Program at Ohio Wesleyan University and Kent State alumnus. The talk, sponsored by Kent State’s Lyman L. Lemnitzer Center for NATO and European Union Studies, will be held on Tuesday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m. in Room 313 of the Kent Student Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Daniel Rodgers, a history professor at Princeton University, spoke in the Business Administration Building Tuesday. In his speech, Rodgers addressed the idea of globalizing U.S. history.

Dr. Daniel Rodgers to visit KSU- Transnationalizing U.S. History
The History department is please to announce that Daniel T. Rodgers, the Henry Charles Lea Professor of History and the Director of the Shelby Cullom Davis center for Historical Studies will be visiting Kent State University on March 1st. His visit to Kent will bring Professor Rodgers back to a topic that has long interested him--the transnational dimension of American history.
