Kent State Starts Exchange Program with Wurzburg University
Kent State University has developed a new international exchange program with Germany’s University of Wurzburg. The new partnership will allow undergraduate Kent State students to study abroad at the German university, located in a picturesque region of northern Bavaria.

NIH Awards $2.7-Million Grant to Kent State
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has awarded a $2.7-million grant to Kent State University for a collaborative research project with Case Western Reserve University School of Nursing, Summa Health System in Akron and University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland to study cognitive impairment in heart failure patients. The four-year grant from NIH’s National Heart, Lung, And Blood Institute runs through Jan. 31, 2014.

Kent State Presents Computer Science Discovery Day on May 1
The Department of Computer Science at Kent State University is hosting a Computer Science Discovery Day on Saturday, May 1. Accepted, prospective and interested students, along with their friends and family members, can learn more about the exciting possibilities of studying computer science at Kent State. The activities begin at 10 a.m. in the Mathematics and Computer Science Building, which is adjacent to the first parking lot east of the Student Center parking lot on Summit Street.

International Standard project initiative
As part of an ISO International Standard initiative, IAL member Sue Ellen Wright has spearheaded a major international project involving several Translation Studies PhD students. She serves as chair of the Data Category Registry Board (DCRB) for the ISOcat metadata registry. The project, which involves the creation of a component linked to the creation of the Semantic Web, is being conducted in coordination with the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, and is funded by the European Union CLARIN project. Kent State’s Patrick Coy Receives Fulbright Scholar Award
Dr. Patrick G. Coy, director and associate professor at the Center for Applied Conflict Management of Kent State University and resident of Peninsula, Ohio, has won a Fulbright Scholar Award to Botswana for the 2010-2011 academic year. Coy will be posted at the University of Botswana in Gabarone.

Kent State Hosts Maj. Ian Rutherford, April 20
Kent State University’s Lemnitzer Center for NATO and European Union Studies announces its spring semester program. The center’s speaker will be Maj. Ian Rutherford, who is an assistant professor at the Royal Military College of Canada (RMCC) teaching courses in Canadian politics, international studies and strategic studies. He is also concurrently serving as the Canadian Forces’ Visiting Defense Fellow at the Queen’s University Centre for International Relations.

Kent State University presents the 24th Ohio Employee Ownership Conference on Friday, April 30, at the Hilton West in Fairlawn, Ohio. This year’s conference theme is “Going Forward With a Vision,” inspired by the untimely death last winter of the Ohio Employee Ownership Center’s founder and director, John Logue.

Ph.D. Student helps improve Kyrgyzstan's governing capacity
Askat Dukenbaev was recently hired by the Soros Foundation to head up efforts in Kyrgyzstan to improve the public administration in the country. His dissertation research is also center on public sector capacity in the Kyrgyzstan.

Kent State’s Foreign Language Academy Expands Program
Kent State University’s Foreign Language Academy received a combined total of $197,795 in federal grants for 2010. The Foreign Language Academy and its workshops focus on enriching high school students’ and teachers’ capabilities of learning and grasping world languages that are not widely taught in the United States.

Kent State's African Community Theatre Presents "The Sirens"
