Kent State Professor Helps Solve Rubik’s Cube Problem
A long-standing problem behind one of the world’s most popular and addicting puzzles has been solved. A team of researchers, including Dr. Morley Davidson, an associate professor of mathematical sciences at Kent State University, has unveiled new research that finds that every position of the Rubik's Cube™ can be solved in 20 moves or less.

Changes to Introductory CS Sequence Underway
The Department of Computer Science is planning to make changes to the introductory Computer Science course sequence. Specifically, we plan to be changing the first course for Computer Science Majors.

Kent State University mourns the loss of faculty member Kimberly Sue Todd-White, who passed away July 18, 2010, as the result of a car accident.

KSU at Salem Students Finalists for Mathematical Award
Kent State University at Salem Sophomores Jennifer A. Huzyak and Timothy M. Montgomery were recently selected as finalists for the Kathleen Wolf Award. The annual award is given out by Kent State University’s Department of Mathematical Science.

Doctoral Student Selected to Attend Nobel Laureate Meeting
Congratulations to Stacy Grant, who was chosen to attend the 2010 Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Germany from June 27th through July 2nd. Stacy, a doctoral student in the Jaroniec research group, is currently investigating the synthesis, adsorption and structural properties of ordered mesoporous alumina and aluminum-containing metal oxides.

Kent State Presents Seminar on the “New Normal" on June 17
The Succession Planning Program at Kent State University, the Goering Center for Family and Private Business, and South Metro Regional Chamber of Commerce have assembled a leading team of advisors to present a business planning seminar for small-and medium-sized companies. The session will address the “new normal,” the changed expectations for businesses in the current recessionary economic climate. The session will be held on Thursday, June 17, at the Crowne Plaza in Cincinnati.
