Kent State Assistant Professor Receives $523,859 NSF Grant
Dr. Ruoming Jin, assistant professor of computer science at Kent State University, has been awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to develop data mining technologies. The five-year CAREER grant of $523,859 is for his project titled "Novel Data Mining Technologies for Complex Network Analysis."

Scheduled Computer System Down Time and Reduced Service over Spring Break
Both CS and Math computer systems will be subject to down time and reduced service over the Spring break. In general there will be COMPLETE shutdowns for SHORT PERIODS only, except on Monday March 28 and Wednesday March 31 when there will be a COMPLETE shutdown ALL DAY AND NIGHT through the next morning. During shutdowns there will be no system access, and on that Monday and Thursday there will be no network or telephone service in the building.

The 26th Annual Virginia Hamilton Conference on Multicultural Literature for Youth will be held Thursday, April 8, and Friday, April 9, at Kent State University in the Kent Student Center. Two Kent State University instructors from its Foreign Language Academy were among 10 world language professors chosen by the National Foreign Language Center to be featured in its STARTALK’s online language learning modules. STARTALK is a program of the National Foreign Language Center and helps support the teaching of foreign languages in American schools.

Kent State Researchers Take Lead in Significant Physics Discovery
Ten Kent State University researchers are part of a team of international scientists who have discovered the most massive antinucleus discovered to date. They are part of an international team of scientists studying high-energy collision of gold ions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), a 2.4 mile-circumference particle accelerator at the U.S Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, N.Y.

Kent State to Open New LGBTQ Student Center March 11
On Thursday, March 11, Kent State University will open the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Student Center. Located on the second floor of the Kent Student Center, the LGBTQ Student Center will serve as the academic and social hub for the university’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer students.
