Kent State Researchers Play Lead Role in New Science Discovery
Kent State University researchers are part of a team of international scientists who have discovered antihelium-4, the most massive antinucleus known to date. This new discovery is the antimatter partner of the helium-4 nucleus, also called the alpha particle. Helium-4 is the normal form of helium, the second most abundant element in the universe after hydrogen.

Weight Loss Improves Memory, According to Kent State Researcher
John Gunstad, an associate professor in Kent State University’s Department of Psychology, and a team of researchers have discovered a link between weight loss and improved memory and concentration. The study shows that bariatric surgery patients exhibited improved memory function 12 weeks after their operations.

Prof. Nelson Burns Receives National Honor
Prof. Nelson Burns has been selected by The National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare to receive the Visionary Leadership Award for 2011. As part of its “Cosmopolitanism and Diversity in the African World” lecture series, Kent State University’s Department of Pan-African Studies presents a lecture by Paul Finkelman, the William McKinley Distinguished Professor of Law and Public Policy and Senior Fellow at the Albany Law School’s Governor Law Center in Albany, N.Y. The lecture takes place Wednesday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. in room 214 of Oscar Ritchie Hall on the Kent Campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Kent State Presents Documentary on World’s Largest Deaf Community on April 7
On April 7, Kent State University will host a screening of the documentary film “Voices From El-Sayed,” which tells the story of world’s largest Deaf community located in an Israeli Bedoiun village. Director and writer Oded Adomi Leshem will be on hand to discuss the film.
