The Aeronautics Living-Learning Community

The Aeronautics Living-Learning Community (LLC), housed in Dunbar Hall, is off to a flying start in its second year!

The Aeronautics LLC, created in the fall of 2013, includes 35 first-year students majoring in Flight Technology, Air Traffic Control, Aeronautical Systems Engineering, and Aviation Management. This year, students in the community have already enjoyed a Meet and Greet and have participated in community service with POWERcorps, Dunbar Hall’s community service partnership providing social opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities.

The community also attended the Aviation Heritage Fair at the Kent State University Airport, and members are looking forward to two upcoming tours of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, and to other career preparation events including mock interview for Aeronautics students and an Aeronautics networking night.

Each LLC member is also paired with a Peer Mentor. Heather Ryan, Aeronautics Learning Community Coordinator and Academic Advisor, recently stated that “Peer Mentors are very motivated to work with the students, and have really stepped up in providing a welcoming, encouraging and academically-focused environment for our LLC group!”

Be sure to keep up with the Aeronautics LLC events, which are posted on Dunbar Hall’s Facebook page!
