The Writing Commons support students at all levels and every academic discipline with any projects that include writing. They assist students on every stage of composing and revising with support, feedback, and resources.

The primary goal of the Office of the Student Ombuds is to provide students confidential consultation in assisting with the possible resolution of any university-related concern, grievance or appeal. The Ombuds Office works directly with faculty and staff, providing consultation related to university policies and procedures. It has established itself as an objective, unbiased operation that continues to work towards developing a fair and equitable university community.

Step Up and Speak Out is a collaborative effort of Kent State University Psychological Services, University Health Services, the Office of the Vice President Student Affairs, and Police Services. Step Up and Speak Out provides greater awareness of mental health concerns, including risk factors for suicide. This suicide prevention campaign represents a collaborative effort of Kent State University Psychological Services, University Health Services, the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, and Police Services and aims to support individuals in need by educating University community members on protocols and resources designed to assist in disruptive situations or with distressed individuals. We provide multiple resources for students and staff to educate them on how to handle these situations.

The purpose of the CKP is to supplement individuals that are food insecure and in need of assistance with free food. Eligibility: The Campus Kitchen Pantry serves students, faculty, staff and community members who need food assistance. The location is in Leebrick Hall, appointments required from 3-5:30 pm. Walk-ins are available after 5:30 pm.

Flashes Fighting Hunger is able to host multiple food pantries on-campus each week. It also is able to prepare 250+ nutritious meals for those struggling with food insecurity. The organization also collaborates with the Center for Nutrition Outreach at Kent to provide fresh food for the Mighty Pack program, has a weekly presence at the Haymaker Farmers’ Market, and provides fresh food to the Kent State CARES Center.
