Prior to the start of Fall classes, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry hosts an orientation session for new majors called COSMIC (Careers, Opportunities, Scholarships for Majors, & Information for Chemists) Kickoff. While this event is tailored to incoming chemistry majors, it is open to all students, including current majors. Attendees will learn about the curriculum and degree programs, careers in chemistry, undergraduate research opportunities, and student groups and employment opportunities. In addition, representatives from the Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) and Kent State's College of Podiatric Medicine are available to talk to students about admissions to their programs. Faculty advisors are also in attendance to meet with students and introduce themselves, and food and raffle prizes are available.
This year, our orientation is on August 19th, 12:00pm-3pm in Williams Hall and the Integrated Science Building.
