STARS Program Criteria

Student Recruitment & Selection

Any African American high school student admitted to the Kent State University main campus is eligible for participation. Thirty students are selected annually to participate in the program through a competitive process, which includes a one (1) hour interview. Interviews are typically held in March/April and provide an opportunity to share detailed information about the program, become better acquainted with each prospective participant, and answer any questions regarding the program. Prior to the interview, there are four (4) Student Recommendation Forms that must be completed by teachers, counselors, or administrators and returned to the Student Multicultural Center along with a current original high school transcript before Thursday, March 10, 2005.
