Mission Statement
The Office of Gender Equity & Title IX aims to foster all individuals to achieving success while at Kent State University by cultivating a safe, inclusive, and holistic environment which ensures equal access in education programs or activities free from unlaw discrimination and harassment on the basis of sex.
Office of Gender Equity & Title IX – Purpose of Title IX Coordinator
The university has a duty to promptly respond to all complaints of sexual harassment and sexual violence, whether on or off campus, by addressing reports and requests for guidance, providing consultation and limiting the effects within the academic environment. The Title IX Coordinator is designated with the primary responsibility for coordinating the university’s compliance with Title IX. This includes providing leadership for Title IX activities, providing consultation, education, and training, and helping to ensure the university responds appropriately, effectively and equitably to Title IX issues. Title IX staff members assist faculty, staff and students in understanding their rights and options for support and investigation of harassment and discrimination, including sexual misconduct. Title IX staff can provide referrals to campus and community resources and arrange supportive measures.
Who is the Title IX Coordinator and how do I reach them?
In accordance with Title IX regulations, Kent State University has designated Richantae Johnson, J.D. as Director, Gender Equity & Title IX Coordinator to maintain and enforce the university’s policies and compliance efforts regarding gender equity and Title IX compliance.
