FAQs

Why do we need to let DPAE know we have alumni volunteers on campus?
DPAE keeps track of alumni engagement, including volunteering, to help us maintain strong relationships with our alumni. Additionally, we track alumni engagement scores so we can suggest prospects for philanthropy. We can help you find alumni for your volunteering needs as well. We have KSU alumni swag gift bags we can provide to you to give to your volunteers as a way to say thank you!

Can we have ongoing volunteer opportunities on our site?
Yes! We can post on-going volunteer opportunities or short-term, limited opportunities.

Who can I talk to about a potential volunteer opportunity?
You can talk to your DPAE project manager or you can send an email to alumni@kent.edu and we will reach out to you.

What are some examples of how alumni can volunteer on campus?
Classroom speakers, mentors, serving on alumni boards or committees, participating in career fairs or workshops.

What information do I need to provide to request a volunteer or report a volunteer?
It is helpful if you provide as much detailed information about the volunteer opportunity as possible. If you are reporting an alumni who has already volunteered, please provide their first and last name and Banner ID if you have it.

Where will my volunteer opportunity be posted/promoted?
Your volunteer opportunity will be featured on the Kent State Volunteer and Mentoring Opportunities webpage, where alumni and friends can browse and sign up for current opportunities.  In addition, the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement can help promote your opportunity through targeted email outreach to specific alumni groups or audiences who may be interested in getting involved.
