Chapter Spotlight: San Francisco Bay Alumni Chapter

San Francisco alumni and friends enjoy at hike at Devil's Slide on May 5, 2018.

The San Francisco Bay Alumni Chapter, chartered in 2016, connects over 1,500 Kent State alumni in the San Francisco Bay area.  The chapter hosts a variety of events from fun hikes to private tours and participates in the annual Alumni Day of Service. The group has a strong social media presence on Facebook.

We caught up with the San Francisco Bay Alumni Chapter President, Diane Laney Fitzpatrick, ’81, to hear about the amazing things the chapter is doing.

Share an interesting fact about your chapter.
We have active alumni from as far away as Eureka, a northern California city, which requires a five-hour drive to get to our activities.

What’s the chapter’s biggest accomplishment(s) within the last year?
We have been working on partnerships with several colleges and schools at Kent State to help place current students in internships and jobs in the Bay area, promoting KSU to local high school students and hosting events to raise the profile of Kent State in the area.

How can alumni, friends and family become involved?
The best way to become involved is to attend an event or a meeting! Our quarterly board meetings are casual, open to all and accompanied by a social activity.

Contact chapter president Diane Laney Fitzpatrick, ’81, at diane.fitzpatrick@mac.com to learn more about upcoming activities. We are Flashes Forever!

The chapter volunteered at Half Moon Bay during the 2018 Alumni Day of Service.
