What are Ozobots?

Ozobots are small programmable robots designed to teach coding and computational thinking through color codes and OzoBlockly, an online Scratch-like programming language.

Two Ways to Code

Color Codes

Using markers, users create paths with visible code for the Ozobots to follow. By drawing different sequences of colors, users can command the Ozobot to perform various actions. For example the sequence green, black, and red, tells the Ozobot to take a left at the next intersection, while green, red, green, red, will tell the Ozobot to spin and then continue on its path.

Example: Green → Black → Red = Left Turn

OzoBlockly

Ozobots can also be coded using an online block-based programming language called OzoBlockly. This platform includes multiple levels each expanding with  increasingly complex blocks and functions. Users can also use JavaScript to write code directly for the Ozobot.

OzoBlockly code is transferred through a series of quick flashing colors, no cables or wireless connection required.
