Main Street Kent Celebrates the Arts with First Friday Art Walks

Kent has become well known for its eclectic mix of art, which continues to blossom in the downtown district through galleries, shops featuring a variety of local artists, live music events and public art. At Main Street Kent, the planning has begun for a new art-focused event series – the First Friday Art Walk.

The First Friday Art Walks began May 4 and will continue through December 2018. All participating galleries, studios and creative businesses will extend their business hours to at least 8 p.m. on the first Friday of each month, opening their doors to welcome all who are interested in exploring the artwork inside their businesses. Guests will enjoy special featured artists, refreshments, artist demonstrations, poetry readings, live music, arts activities and more at these participating locations: Downtown Gallery, DS Architecture, Each + Every, Empire, FJKluth Art Gallery, Group 10 Gallery, Kent State Hotel and Conference Center, McKay Bricker Framing & Black Squirrel Gifts, Melissa Campbell Studio, Popped!, Scribbles Coffee, Standing Rock Cultural Arts and Troppus Projects. These events are free, and are sponsored by Acorn Alley, Kent State School of Art Galleries and Troppus Projects.

Please stop in one of the participating locations to pick up a free Art Walk map, or download it at www.mainstreetkent.org/events/art-walk/. Call Main Street Kent 330-677-8000 with any questions.
