Schwartz Center and Kent Student Center Visitor Parking Lots Open for Start of Fall Semester

The Schwartz Center (R12) and Kent Student Center Visitor parking lots that were closed for construction this summer will be open today, Monday, Aug. 29, as the 2016 Fall Semester begins. The R10 lot between Lake Hall and the Memorial Athletic and Convocation (MAC) Center also is open.

Construction in the area will continue through next month to finish up landscaping and concrete work, but motorists will have access to and can park their vehicles in these lots beginning Aug. 29. Individuals who plan to use these parking lots are encouraged to watch for construction vehicles.

The Kent State University Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.

The events of May 4, 1970, placed Kent State University in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, Kent State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
