Students Compete to Bring a Touch of Their Hometown To Kent

Kent State University’s Dining Services strives to make Kent State a home away from home for all students. This fall, students were encouraged to submit recipes of their favorite meals to be entered into the Taste of Home Competition. The finalists’ dishes will be tasted by a select panel of students, faculty and executive chefs on Sept. 12 at 3 p.m. at Eastway Center Banquet Room.

The winner’s recipe will be served as a special at dinner on Sept. 16 at Eastway Café. They also will receive two tickets to the Division of Student Affairs loge for the football game on Saturday, Sept. 17, during Parents and Families Weekend. Their meal will be the entrée served in the loge as well.

Students have the chance to submit their meals all year with the Taste of Home submission form at www.kent.edu/dining under the “Speak Up” tab. Select meals will be served at specific dining locations. To learn more, visit the Dining Services website or contact Rita Mugford, marketing coordinator for Dining Services, at 330-672-8154.

The Kent State University Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.

The events of May 4, 1970, placed Kent State University in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, Kent State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
