- U.S. citizen (or national) or a permanent resident of the U.S.
- From a group that is considered underrepresented (e.g., women in traditionally male-dominated disciplines, individuals with disabilities, and ethnic/racial minorities).
- Preference given to graduate students pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree from STEM disciplines (as defined by the National Science Foundation).
Award:
Recipients receive a $500 monetary award.
Application and Selection Processes:
Submit electronic application and letter of recommendation by February 15 for consideration for the following year. Along with a completed application (including brief scholarship statement identifying the extent to which you are an underrepresented minority in your discipline), an applicant is required to submit a CV/resume, and a letter of recommendation from their dissertation advisor detailing accomplishments in research and scholarship in the discipline. All materials must be received by the deadline.
Applications are reviewed by a committee comprised of faculty representing various ranks and disciplines. The recipient is selected by the Dean of the Graduate College.
