Engaging Students Remotely Across Campus

Presented by Claudia Gomez, Velvet Landingham

Description:

Engaging students in a face-to-face class or an online class is hard enough, imagine doing both at the same time - teaching some students directly in front of you and others are in rooms on other campuses.  While the rooms are fitted with multiple cameras, microphones and screens to help ensure similar experiences across locations; the number of considerations for teaching and possible challenges increase dramatically.  Faculty will share strategies they used in their classrooms to keep their students engaged, have students interact across locations and align with other best teaching practices related to this unique learning environment.  A resource sheet will be provided and include more details about the context of the classroom (Zoom Rooms on regional campuses) and helpful hints based on the literature to ensure the class and its activities best support student learning.
