Transforming Teaching Through Open Pedagogy

Presented by Mary Hricko

Description:

According to David Wiley, "disposable assignments are assignments that students complain about doing and faculty complain about grading. They’re assignments that add no value to the world – after a student spends three hours creating it, a teacher spends 30 minutes grading it, and then the student throws it away." This presentation will outline ways in which instructors can transform their teaching through the use of open pedagogy.  This session will provide an overview of what constitutes  "open pedagogy," explain the importance of the 4R's when using  open education resources, and outline best practice strategies to integrate these teaching and learning practices into the classroom.
