Dr. Christopher Woolverton to serve as Jefferson Science Fellow

Epidemiology professor Christopher Woolverton, Ph.D, continues to excel in scholarship, and has been an important health advisor shaping Kent State University’s COVID-19 safety measures. Woolverton was selected to serve as a National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, Jefferson Science Fellow on Sept. 27 for a one-year appointment.

Through the fellowship, Woolverton will share his expertise with the U.S Department of State in Washington, D.C. Woolverton, in collaboration with other faculty, published two academic papers this summer. “Use of Silica Beads to Dry N95 Respirators During Storage,” and “Repurposing Surgical Wrap Textiles for Use as Protective Masks During Pandemic Response” both analyze improvements that can be made to COVID-19 personal protective equipment.

The College of Public Health congratulates professor Woolverton’s for his continued exemplary service to the health community.
