Student Spotlight: Christopher Konieczko

Kent State University’s graduate student community is home to a talented and diverse group of individuals. This week for our Student Spotlight, we’re featuring Cleveland native, Christopher Konieczko.

Christopher, a master’s student in Kent State’s Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling program, is pursuing a career where he can advocate for people living with disabilities and chronic illness, especially those with criminal justice system involvement and a history of substance use. Christopher continually goes the extra yard in his courses and is well-recognized in his program and professionally.

Christopher currently works as a employment specialist at Coleman Professional Services and actively volunteers with the Ohio Rehabilitation Association. He also contributes to a National Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) research project, which highlights workplace discrimination issues faced by Americans with disabilities, specifically individuals with HIV.

Christopher, who graduates in less than a month, plans to apply for KSU’s doctoral Counselor Education and Supervision program, where he will be able to finish his internship for clinical mental health. He hopes to continue to work directly with individuals living with disabilities as well as in a research role.

When Christopher isn’t working, studying or volunteering, he spends his free time reading, drawing, attending live music and sporting events, collecting antiques, spending time outside in nature and traveling.
