Teach at the Florence Summer Institute

Kent State University has been educating students in Florence for 50 years. The Kent State Florence Center is home to our Florence Summer Institute which offers 2 four-week sessions during June and July. Students can take two courses and earn six to seven Kent State credits during each session. The Florence Summer Institute offers a wide range of courses from multiple Colleges. All Colleges are welcome to propose new courses to the Florence Summer Institute, whether the College is housed on the Kent campus or on a regional campus.

Get Involved

All Kent State University faculty members are eligible to teach at the Florence Summer Institute.  The call for Florence Summer Institute course proposals becomes live one year in advance, typically in early July, with a deadline to submit the proposal and all relevant supplemental materials in early August.

Faculty can propose to teach an existing course or work with their department to develop a special topics course within their discipline specifically for the Florence Summer Institute.

If you are interested in teaching at the Florence Summer Institute, please contact your department chair.  All course proposals must be approved by the Dean of your College before being submitted to the Office of Global Education.
