The Write Place
The Graduate College is offering the Write Place every Wednesday and Saturday. Join your fellow graduate students for weekly writing accountability groups. The sessions will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Wednesdays in University Library 314 and 2-5 p.m. via Microsoft Teams on Saturdays. In collaboration with the Writing Commons, a Graduate Writing Consultant will be present during every session to assist students as needed. Students are welcome to join whenever they are able!
Graduate Career Peer Drop-In Hours
In partnership with Career Exploration and Development, we are excited to offer Graduate Career Peer Drop-in sessions. These sessions are a way for you to get help with quick questions about programs and careers, resume and cover letter critiques, accessing and navigating Handshake, increasing your networking skills, learning interviewing tips, and more!
Sessions will be offered on Tuesdays in University Library 314 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Join us as your schedule allows and know we are here to help you with all of your career needs!
Each drop-in visit will typically last about 10-15 minutes. You are welcome and encouraged to attend multiple drop-in sessions throughout the semester.
Graduate Student Teaching Award
Graduate Student Teaching Award highlights excellence in teaching and mentoring among current graduate students. The award recognizes graduate students who exemplify excellence in teaching/learning as part of their professional development and training. Each year, one award will be given to a doctoral student and one to a master's student. The application window for the 2023-2024 academic year has opened. Applications are due by Wednesday, November 15, 2023 by 11:59 p.m. (EST). Nominations should be submitted to graduatecollege@kent.edu. CARES Center Food Drive
The CARES Center works collaboratively with all students to secure resources that meet basic needs, which include supporting financial, food, housing, and mental well-being. To support those efforts, CARES will be running a food drive from Monday, November 13 through Friday, November 17. Interested in donating? Visit the Center's Amazon wish list for inspiration!

ACIREMA
The Office of Global Education will be offering ACIREMA on Thursday, November 16 from 12-1:30 p.m. in Kent Student Center Room 306 as part of International Education Week. This event serves as an opportunity to gain deeper insight into the procedures and hurdles that international students go through before they even arrive on our campus.
DI/NEOvations B2B Dinner Challenge
Learn about the NEOvations B2B Competition at this dinner challenge co-produced by Kent State University's Design Innovation and NEOMED. The event is open to graduate students and Health/Medical Care Providers/Educators from across Northeast Ohio. Interested in attending? Register for the event here.
International Cook-off
The Office of Global Education will be hosting the annual International Cook-Off supported by Kent State University Culinary Services on Friday, November 17 from 6-8 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. The cook-off will feature student culinary teams, who will compete as finalists in the competition. Each team will prepare and present a different cultural entrée from their home country or region. The teams will compete for first-, second- and third-place awards, which will be determined by a team of judges. In addition, the Cook-Off’s attendees will have the chance to vote for their favorite team and recipe for the People’s Choice Award. The announcements of the first, second and third place, as well as the People's Choice winners, will occur at approximately 7:45 p.m. The event is open to everyone and the fantastic food is free!
Native American Heritage Month Celebration
Join the E. Timothy Moore Student Multicultural Center on Saturday, November 18 from 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Ballroom Balcony to celebrate Native American Heritage Month. This event will feature Indigenous food, dance, songs and history. All are welcome!
Creating an Inclusive Workplace
The Division of People, Culture, and Belonging will be hosting a virtual training called Creating an Inclusive Workplace on Wednesday, November 29 from 10-11:30 a.m. Interested in attending? Register through Learning Stream.
Winter Coat and Clothing Drive
Kent State University will be collecting clean, gently used or new items for all ages including warm clothing, hats, gloves, scarves, and sweaters from November 13 through December 15 for the Winter Coat and Clothing Drive. Donations will go to the Winter Warm Up Stations at the Williamson House, CARES Center (Room 106), and the Phyllis Zumkehr Portage County Clothing Center, which provides items to homeless individuals, families, elderly, and veterans in need free of charge.
Family-Friendly Study Hours
Bring your kids over to the Family-Friendly Corner on the 6th Floor of the Library. You can study while your kids play with the toys they have there or they can join in a group activity led by a student volunteer. Please RSVP at least 24 hours in advance.
Flashes Food Pantry
Visit the Flashes Food Pantry in Kent Student Center Suite 106 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. by appointment only. For a chance to walk-in, visit from 2-3 p.m. For more information, visit the CARES Center website.
Graduate Student USO Group
Join Counseling and Psychological Services for Understanding Self and Others (USO) on Mondays from 1:30-3 p.m. USO is a therapy group for graduate students that provides a safe space to learn about yourself and your relationships.
Mental Health Support
The new Mental Health Resources and Support website is live! Here you'll find all mental health and well-being services that support the Kent State University community across any of our campuses and abroad. This site will help you identify support for yourself or others and empowers you with educational resources. Additionally, we have compiled a list of graduate student support resources.
