The Graduate College is offering the Write Place every Wednesday and Saturday. Join your fellow graduate students for weekly writing accountability groups. The sessions will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Wednesdays in University Library 314 and 2-5 p.m. via Microsoft Teams  on Saturdays. In collaboration with the Writing Commons, a Graduate Writing Consultant will be present during every session to assist students as needed. Students are welcome to join whenever they are able!

The Graduate College  invites applications for our inaugural student advisory council. The GCSAC will share insight and serve as an advisory body concerning graduate education, programming, and initiatives organized and coordinated through the Graduate College at Kent State University. All graduate students are eligible to apply. Estimated time commitment is at least one hour per month for a year-long appointment. Applicants must indicate their interest by completing the  Qualtrics form by Friday, December 15 by 11:59 p.m. Please contact  graduatecollege@kent.edu should you have questions.

The Graduate College is conducting a Student Success Study and we are seeking graduate students, faculty, and administrators for focus groups. Participation includes a demographic survey and 60-minute focus group. Students will receive a $10 e-gift card upon completion. If you are interested in participating, please click the Qualtrics survey. Open Graduate Student Focus Groups:

  • January 25 from 8-30-9:30 a.m. in University Library Trustee Conference Room
  • January 30 from 2-3 p.m. via Microsoft Teams
  • February 5 from 5-6 p.m. in University Library 352 (International Students Only)

The objective of the teaching development awards program is to recognize actions that enhance teaching and learning at Kent State University. The program allows instructors to earn tiered awards (bronze, silver, gold & platinum) for their efforts to learn about, implement, evaluate and investigate evidence-based instructional practices.  All instructors at Kent State, including graduate students and faculty of all appointment types (TT, NTT, adjunct) are eligible to participate. More information about these awards can be found on the Center for Teaching and Learning website. The Kent State Graduate College Graduate Student Teaching Award highlights excellence in teaching and mentoring among current graduate students. The award recognizes graduate students who exemplify excellence in teaching/learning as part of their professional development and training. Each year, one award will be given to a doctoral student and one to a master’s student.  This year's doctoral student recipient is Psychology student, Maren Greve! Congratulations, Maren! Kent State University will be collecting clean, gently used or new items for all ages including warm clothing, hats, gloves, scarves, and sweaters from November 13 through December 15 for the Winter Coat and Clothing Drive. Donations will go to the Winter Warm Up Stations at the Williamson HouseCARES Center (Room 106), and the Phyllis Zumkehr Portage County Clothing Center, which provides items to homeless individuals, families, elderly, and veterans in need free of charge.

The Spring 2024 Graduate Assistant student health insurance open enrollment period is scheduled to begin on December 18, 2023, and close on February 16, 2024. During this time, eligible GA’s may enroll for the subsidized health insurance with United Healthcare Student Resources. Students can enroll using the GA enrollment link All Graduate Assistants who are eligible for the subsidized health insurance coverage must use this specific enrollment website link for the subsidized premium. International GA’s will have a waiver applied to their KSU account when we can verify a successful payment has been made to UHCSR.

The Education Elevated Collaborative brings together multiple campus partners for the purpose of providing faculty with the knowledge and skills to implement teaching strategies that elevate students’ learning through leveraging technology in service of effective teaching.  The Collaborative is committed to sponsoring workshops, conferences and other opportunities for faculty and staff to learn and share expertise with digital tools for education.
