Leigh Greenfelder currently serves as the associate vice president, communications and outreach within the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement. In this role, Leigh leads an integrated team that merges advancement and alumni communications, annual giving and events. Leigh and her team are responsible for the strategy and implementation for all communications and outreach efforts to alumni and donors on behalf of the university, including email, social media, websites, direct mail, phone center and live and virtual events. Leigh spearheads efforts to build a donor-centric, omnichannel approach that will support and engage Kent State’s key constituencies during the comprehensive campaign and beyond.
Leigh has focused her team’s efforts on organizing all alumni and donor outreach from the university’s colleges and divisions, with a focus on driving university brand and priorities and increasing alumni engagement. By helping develop a constituent engagement score, her team has been able to create targeted outreach and fundraising campaigns, such as a record-setting $1.7 million Giving Tuesday program. She also launched a Leadership Annual Giving program that far exceeded a variety of national benchmarks in its first three years. Leigh serves on the division’s senior team, providing counsel on a variety of strategic topics.
Prior to joining Kent State in January 2017, Leigh held roles with WhiteSpace Creative, including vice president and vice president for Public Relations. In these roles, Leigh led a team of professionals committed to creating and implementing a wide variety of integrated programs, from strategic planning and public relations to advertising, social media and branding. Her expertise as a senior counselor and advisor to corporate, nonprofit, political and municipal clients was essential to the integration of strategic services that ensured client success, and also garnered a variety of ADDY, MarComm and Hermes Creative Awards.
Leigh holds a Bachelor of Arts, Public Communications, Psychology from Ashland University, where she played intercollegiate volleyball and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
