Message from the DeanSonia Alemagno

The mission of Kent State University's College of Public Health is to advance public health by preparing leaders, scientists, and practitioners to collaborate with community partners in conducting impactful research to practice to solve public health challenges. Much of the work in the college's Office of Public Health and Practice and Partnerships (OPHPP) is to build practice-based relationships between academic, public health agencies and health care organizations as well as community non-profit agencies. In this issue you will read about the college living its mission through important research collaborations headed by Drs. Deric Kenne and Kimberly Laurene, allowing academia and nonprofit agencies to work together to implement important outreach strategies to make a measurable impact.

Be sure to take a moment to read more about our College of Public Health career ambassadors. Professionals with decades of experience connect students to public health in practice - what an invaluable resource.

I'm proud to be part of such a strong and committed team of educators, researchers, staff, faculty, students and alumni.

Thanks for all you do to improve the health of the community we share.

Yours in good health,

Sonia Alemagno, Dean
