Careers, Jobs, and Internships

The College of Aeronautics and Engineering (CAE) is pleased to offer employers the opportunity to connect with CAE students through online postings via Handshake. Handshake is an online career platform used for recruiting college students at over 1000+ colleges and universities. If you are already a Handshake user, simply go to the “Schools” option and request access to Kent State University. If you do not currently have a Handshake account, you will first need to create one before being able to post your opportunity, using the following steps.

Using Handshake

Create a Handshake Account

Your first steps will be to create an account and set up a profile on the KSU Handshake portal. Once this is done, it can take 2-3 business days for our team to approve your organization.

  1. Go to the Handshake Registration Page.
  2. Complete form by providing basic information; check inbox for confirmation email from Handshake.
  3. After confirming your email address, complete your employer profile (if your company already has a profile created by another employee in the organization, they may need to approve your connection to that existing account).

After you’re approved, you’re all set to start posting positions and connecting with great KSU candidates.

Jobs or internships targeted to Kent students can be posted at no charge. In order to post and have your position approved, it must adhere to Kent State’s Recruiting Policy and Disclaimer.

Post a Job on Handshake
  1. Log into Handshake using the email address and password you previously created.
  2. Select the “Post a Job” button on the main dashboard or click on the left “Jobs” menu and click the “Create Job” button on the top right of the page.
  3. Complete the form fully, including the basics, position details, screening preferences, and schools to which you want to post the position (be sure to select Kent State University).
  4. Email our Career Services Coordinator Steven Nowinski the link to your Handshake posting once complete so he can continue to push the opportunity out to our students.

Our College is committed to bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world experiences by cultivating meaningful recruiting relationships between our students and employer partners. We are excited to offer a variety of dynamic opportunities for your organization to connect with our students. Join us to inspire, mentor, and guide the next generation of leaders in aeronautics and engineering.

Employer Panels

Volunteer to participate in an education employer panel during our Career Fairs or a CAE professional development event. Employer Panels are composed of representatives of your organization and the job market that our graduates will meet. Depending on which employer partners are interested, we will develop discussion panel(s) centered around a common industry or theme.

Faculty Connections

Connect with Full-Time Faculty from our college to discuss opportunities. Additionally, you can choose to be added to our Classroom Speaker Contact List. Organizations who opt in will be contacted by faculty if a guest speaker is needed.

FLASHternships

Invite freshmen and sophomores to shadow a professional for a few hours to a week. It provides a firsthand look at a career, expands networks, and helps students assess their fit for the role. They also learn about required skills and educational paths. Activities may include observing professionals, asking questions, joining projects, attending meetings, touring the company, meeting key employees, engaging with clientele, and gaining HR insights on hiring practices.

Help us build a video library we can share with students to promote your company. Have a video that is recruitment focused? Share it with us to share with our students!

Mock Interviews

Help students practice real-world interview skills. We supply an evaluation form so you can offer constructive feedback on performance. This is also an opportunity for you to assess potential candidates for your available positions. Career Services will make every effort to align employers with students in specific fields of interest.

On-Campus Interviews

Reserve the Industry in Residence office for in-person, on-campus interviews, or request accommodations for student candidates you wish to interview virtually.

Student Organizations

Registered Student Organizations are typically open to employer engagement, welcoming information about opportunities for their members. They may also extend invitations to employers for events or meetings.

Virtual Events

Maintain brand presence, share hiring needs, and connect with interested candidates by hosting a virtual event on your preferred platform.

Virtual events may include:

  • Company Tour: Guide an audience of students through your facilities.
  • Group Chat: Engage with small groups of students in a casual context.
  • Information Session: Discuss opportunities and answer student questions.
  • Webinar: Support student development in soft or technical skills.
