School of Communication Studies Welcomes Fall Intern

Kent State University’s School of Communication Studies welcomes Jowan M. Cole as a student member of the marketing and public relations team for fall semester of 2015. Cole is a senior in the applied communication concentration, with minors in both marketing and global communication.

“Going forth with my final semesters here at Kent, I am ecstatic to be working with the School of Communication Studies. I find that it is very refreshing to have lent a helping hand to Kent State, more importantly in an office that I am somewhat familiar with,” said Cole. “I look forward to being immersed in the happenings of the Communication Studies Department’s Marketing & PR sector, so that I will be able to have valued skills for my career upon graduation.”

As an intern, Cole will assist the School of Communication Studies’ marketing and public relations team by contributing copy and managing the school’s social media accounts and websites, design and produce marketing materials, help in market research, as well as assist with planning and marketing the promotional events held on and off campus.

Cole has held office in many different student organizations and student jobs on campus in the past, with the more recent position being associate editor (formerly “creative director”) of Uhuru Magazine as well as a student desk receptionist for Residence Services. Cole is originally from Baltimore, Maryland and while he has taken advantage of Study Abroad opportunities in the past through CCI, he hopes to one day “travel the world,” and experience life on the other end of the pond after graduation in May 2016.
