“I have finally found a path that not only expects me to be this way but also finds it inspirational. I can fulfill my need to ask questions while meeting my own goal of supporting others.”

Heather Irvin Hauser | M.S. Knowledge Management

Current job: Pre-Sales Solution Consultant

Kent State graduate student Heather Irvin Hauser’s natural and never-ending curiosity has always drawn her to conversations about processes, leading and management. She found a natural fit in the School of Information’s Knowledge Management program.

Knowledge management (KM) is defined as a business process that formalizes the management and use of an enterprise’s intellectual assets.

“My love of connecting with others, of asking questions to understand things big and small, of helping people find what they need or want, of learning about everything and anything while supporting everyone's endeavor to the best of my ability so that they can meet their potential while also enjoying the journey,” Irvin Hauser said, “this is why I ultimately chose to study (knowledge management).”

Irvin Hauser is currently a Pre-Sales Solution Consultant, and says that her coursework in Knowledge Management has bolstered her confidence and changed her perspective of how she views herself and how she can be an asset to an organization. She has also learned a lot about communication and the nuances about how messages are conveyed and to whom.

“I have never thought that I could find the perfect spot for my eternal curiosity, collaboration, and information sharing skills, as it can come off as bothersome or ‘'being out of my own swim lane' at workplaces,” she said. “I have finally found a path that not only expects me to be this way but also finds it inspirational. I can fulfill my need to ask questions while meeting my own goal of supporting others.”
