A dream come true

Michael Daniels, Ph.D., director of the E. Timothy Moore Student Multicultural Center (the Moore Center) at Kent State University, had one of his dreams come true by being honored in the 2023 Crain’s 40 Under 40 class. “It’s cool to be recognized amongst an industry of people doing amazing work like this class was,” Daniels said. “I truly believe this is the group of people who will be the shakers, movers, and leaders of tomorrow in Northeast Ohio and probably beyond.”

Initiative to reform Ohio’s redistricting process

The Kent State University Retirees’ Association (KSURA) sponsors monthly presentations, which are free and open to all. Sherry Rose, president of the Kent chapter of the League of Women Voters, will make a presentation about a current state-wide initiative to place a referendum on this November’s ballot that will establish a non-partisan committee to oversee future redistricting. This presentation will be held in the meeting room on the second floor of the Kent Free Library at 312 West Main Street in Kent on Wednesday, Feb. 14 from 3-5 p.m.

A police chase of a stolen car ended in a multicar accident just before 3 p.m. Sunday on East Main Street along the northern edge of the Kent Campus. Portage County Sheriff’s deputies apprehended the teen driver near White Hall as he tried to flee the scene on foot. Medical units were called to treat those who were involved in the crash.Kent State University Police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol assisted in the aftermath of the incident.Any additional questions regarding the incident should be directed to the Portage County Sheriff’s Office....
