Porthouse Theatre

Aveena Sawyer, Porthouse Theatre and School of Theatre and Dance alumna, has been performing on Broadway as "The Boat That I Row" soloist in “A Beautiful Noise, The Neil Diamond Musical.” Recently, Terri Kent, artistic director of Porthouse Theatre, musical theatre coordinator and professor of acting and musical theatre, along with Jennifer Korecki, associate professor of musical theatre, visited Aveena on Broadway. 

Kent State University’s Porthouse Theatre has kicked off the 2023 season with Broadway classic, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” which runs through June 24. This Stephen Sondheim, Broadway classic merges the energy and wit of vaudevillian performance with the 2,000-year-old comedies of Roman playwright Platus.

Porthouse Theatre is thrilled to announce a special Buy One, Get One Free offer for tickets for Kent State faculty and staff to the opening night performance of "The Prom" on Saturday, July 22, 2023.

Porthouse Theatre, Kent State University’s outdoor, summer theatre located on the grounds of Blossom Music Center, will present its 55th season during summer 2023 with "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," "The Marvelous Wonderettes" and "The Prom." 

Porthouse Theatre was recently recognized by the Cleveland Critics Circle for achievements during its 2021 season.
