Alumni Day of Service Cancelled
Please be advised that in light of precautions surrounding COVID-19 (coronavirus), Kent State University is cancelling all university-sponsored events. This includes events on all Kent State campuses as well as university-sponsored events scheduled for other locations. In accordance with the university’s actions and the recommendation of Ohio Gov. Can family and friends participate? What can I do if a site is full? All your Alumni Day of Service questions are answered here.
I don't see a project in my area. How can I get involved?
Choose your own service project and share it with us here!
Can family, friends and children participate in an Alumni Day of Service Project?
Absolutely! We hope alumni, family and friends of all ages will participate. Any service sites with age restrictions will be noted. Children are encouraged to participate with the permission of their parents. Parents/guardians must complete a waiver for children under the age of 18.
What if the site I want to register for is full?
We hope you might consider registering for another Day of Service site in your area, but if you feel a strong connection to a particular site that is full, please contact the alumni office at 888-320-5368. Sites may have wait lists in case of cancellations. You can also volunteer with an organization you’re passionate about and share your service project.
What if I want to donate money rather than time?
Don't have time to volunteer but still want to make a difference? Make a donation and support a Kent State student.
What qualifies as service?
Quite a lot! Cleaning up parks, volunteering at shelters, collecting food for a food bank and helping any part of your community that needs a hand. You can also participate in Alumni Day of Service on your own. Coach a Little League team? That counts. Volunteer at a local animal shelter? That counts, too! Just share your service project with us! We want to recognize the time and energy you are giving back to your community.
May I take photos of alumni to share on social media?
We encourage participants to take photos on Alumni Day of Service and share them on social media with #FlashesGiveBack so we can see your amazing work!
Does my service site require a waiver to participate?
Some service sites require additional waivers or applications. Instructions will be included in a confirmation email sent prior to Alumni Day of Service.
What is a participant packet?
If you register to participate in Alumni Day of Service before March 30, you will receive a free participant packet in the mail. Your participant packet will include information and a T-shirt to wear. You must include a mailing address for you and your registered guests to receive a participant packet.
