Cancelled: LGBTQ+ Alumni Chapter: Lavender Graduation Pre-Reception
University Events Cancelled
Please be advised that in light of precautions surrounding COVID-19 (coronavirus), Kent State University is cancelling all university-sponsored events through the end of the semester to avoid creating large gatherings. This includes events on all Kent State campuses as well as university-sponsored events scheduled for other locations. Regretfully, this also includes the May 4 50th Commemoration Weekend events. Plans for a virtual May 4 Commemoration program are under development.
All Spring Commencement ceremonies and pre-commencement celebrations have been postponed, and alternate options and dates are being considered.

Join the LGBTQ+ Alumni Chapter for the third annual Lavender Graduation Pre-Reception from 5-6 p.m., prior to the Lavender Graduation ceremony! Light appetizers and a cash bar will be provided.
Following the pre-reception, the Kent State LGBTQ+ Center will host the eighth Lavender Graduation ceremony in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. Lavender Graduation is a pre-commencement dinner celebration that honors the achievements of Kent State University LGBTQ+ graduates. Students that are graduating during the 2020 calendar year are encouraged to participate by walking the stage, giving thanks to individuals that helped them reach graduation and being presented a rainbow stole that can be worn at the official Kent State commencement ceremony. Attorney, activist and advocate, Preston Mitchum, ’08, will be the keynote speaker for the evening.
