Chapter Spotlight: Arizona Alumni Chapter

Arizona alumni volunteering at the Phoenix Zoo during the 2018 Alumni Day of Service on April 21.

The Arizona Alumni Chapter, chartered in 2016, connects over 2,000 Kent State alumni across the state by hosting networking, cultural and sporting events. The chapter enjoys service learning projects and loves giving back during Kent State Alumni Association's Annual Day of Service. We caught up with the Arizona Alumni Chapter President, Stephanie Smith Oehler, '99, to hear more about the amazing things the chapter is doing!

What is the chapter’s biggest accomplishment(s) within the last year?
We are most proud of our outstanding event attendance. Outside the state of Ohio, our chapter has had the largest number of attendees at an alumni chapter event. Our events include the Arizona Alumni Hike at North Mountain National Trail, Cleveland Indians Spring Training Home Opener game and pregame event at the Cavaliers vs. Suns basketball game.

What is the chapter most looking forward to this year?
Supporting students, making memories and building connections. We are looking forward to getting more alumni in Arizona involved and creating more networking opportunities.

How can alumni, friends and family become involved?
Each one, reach one! I (Stephanie Smith Oehler, ’99, stephanieoehler@cox.net) can't wait to share upcoming chapter activities with you. We would love to have all alumni in the area attend events and provide feedback as to how the chapter can engage and support them.
