Office of Admissions
Every member of the Admissions team serves a purpose. We provide support to students and families as they explore Kent State and work their way through the recruitment and application process. Our focus is to help students pursue their passion and purpose.
Leadership & Position Summary
Responsible for the leadership, oversight, planning, development, and management of the Office of Admissions and all of its functions. Reports to Vice President for Enrollment Management.
Works in collaboration with the Vice President for Enrollment Management, deans, faculty, and staff to implement, and promote a yearly admissions plan that will achieve ambitious university enrollment goals. Strengthens and refines the university's marketing, recruitment, and outreach to prospective undergraduate and graduate students, expanding the university's ability to attract, select and enroll an increasingly talented and diverse student body. Coordinates the design and implementation of consistent communication through the admissions process and throughout enrollment.
Stay current with issues and policies pertaining to the achievement of a diverse student body and play a leadership role in assisting the university in reaching its diversity goals. Work collaboratively and strategically with other units within the Division of Enrollment Management, particularly with the Office of Student Financial Aid; enhance working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Administer academic policy and university regulations that govern the process of recruitment and enrollment of students. Lead a transparent and forward-looking budgeting process that projects clear outcomes for expenditures and evaluates achievements in the context of an environment in which strategic use of resources is important.
Provide regular reports, data analyses, and evaluation tools to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the colleges, the division, and other designated persons/units. Further a data-informed culture to shape strategic directions and make appropriate adjustments to an integrated admissions plan; regularly reassess accuracy and effectiveness of recruitment activities and make appropriate adjustments so as to lead an effort that is proactive, strategic, and responsive to the changing needs of students.
Provide supervision of unclassified and classified staff; oversee personnel administration and professional development. Serve on university, division, and department committees as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field. Seven years' experience in the management of admissions operations within higher education.
Have knowledge of enrollment management, integrated systems and software (i.e., CRM software and MS Office Suite), budgeting, strategic planning, student recruitment and retention strategies, and the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act
Skill In: Providing leadership and direction. Verbal, written and interpersonal communication, analysis, problem solving and project management and the ability to work closely with and demonstrate sensitivity to individuals with diverse backgrounds.
Key Information
Pay Rate: Based on extensive benchmarking data, the Associate Vice President position is mapped to a paygrade 12, with a target hiring range of $105,070-$144,882. The exact base salary for the selected candidate will be negotiable, commensurate with education and experience, and competitive in the field within the context of similarly situated positions at public universities nationally.
