Dinner with Friends

Dinner with Friends is a new virtual program built on engaging, facilitated small-group conversations over dinner that allow participants to connect with other members of the Kent State community.

Spend the evening sharing stories, learning about each other’s experiences with important issues affecting Kent State students, faculty, staff, and alumni, and discussing how we can move forward together.

Topics include:

  • Adjusting to in-person life as the pandemic evolves

  • Promoting civic agency and empowerment between elections

  • Championing environmental sustainability

  • Fostering equity and inclusion

  • Responding to food insecurity

Participants gather in a large group at the beginning of the virtual event and then are spun off into small "dinner tables," or breakout rooms, for a period of time to get to know each other and begin their discussion guided by a trained facilitator.

Near the end of the program, participants will return to the large room and conclude the event with some reports from each conversation and some general observations on participants' experiences.

All levels of expertise with the topics are welcome! This program's focus is on the act of conversing and building connections across our community, NOT on the topics themselves. We also intentionally invite students, faculty members, AND staff members. The more, the better!

The next Dinner with Friends event will take place in March 2022.
