Scholarships for Freshmen Outside of Ohio for Fall 2021

Incoming freshmen admitted for fall 2021 will not be required to provide ACT or SAT test scores to be considered for admission, merit scholarships, or the Honors College program.   Information about scholarships for fall 2021 is coming soon!

You will be considered for incoming freshmen scholarships if you apply to Kent State University by February 1, 2021, with the exception of the Honors Distinction Awards.  In order to be considered for the Honors Distinction Awards, you must apply and be admitted to the Honors College.

All awards require the student to be a U.S. citizen and enroll full-time at the Kent Campus.

Kent State University is a test-optional school. Students will be able to choose whether to submit their ACT or SAT test scores for admission consideration and scholarship awarding. For scholarship awarding, Kent State will use the highest ACT/SAT composite score from a single test date. The test must be taken prior to January 2021.

Incoming freshmen scholarships can be applied only to tuition instructional and general fees, except for the Honors Distinction Award in Residence.

The cumulative high school GPA used for scholarship purposes will be the 7th semester high school GPA. Kent State will use the highest cumulative GPA posted on the high school transcript. Students admitted before the end of their 7th semester can submit an updated transcript by February 1, 2021, for scholarship reconsideration.

Many Colleges and departments offer scholarship opportunities. These scholarship programs often require a separate application. Use the Kent State Scholarship Search to look for additional scholarships for which you may be eligible to apply.
