Rising Scholars Harry Potter STEM Workshop

Kent State University Rising Scholars students from various Columbiana County high schools participated in a Harry Potter themed STEM spring workshop at East Liverpool High School in March.

East Liverpool High School STEM teacher Jerry Bartlett hosted students from East Liverpool HIgh School, Salem HIgh School, Wellsville HIgh School  Crestview High School and United High School.

During the STEM Workshop, students used elements from the Harry Potter movies in various STEM activities including creating their own wands and creating sorting hats to determine in which Hogwarts house the students would reside.

The Rising Scholars Program, one on each Kent State campus, combines mentoring with assistance from local
communities and businesses to provide support for young adults beginning in seventh grade. The program allows
them to maximize their all-important high school years and focus on making well-informed career choices after graduation.
