Fashion Focus Talk Live on Zoom

Exclusive event for museum members*

Join KSU Museum Curator Dr. Sara Hume for a lively and insightful talk about regional dress in conjunction with the exhibition 'Stitched: Regional Dress across Europe,' which explores the common techniques shared by regional dress across Europe. Her talk draws from the extensive research she has pursued while writing her upcoming book Regional Dress: Between Tradition and Modernity which is scheduled for publication with Bloomsbury Visual Arts in 2022. She will discuss examples of regional dress from KSU Museum's permanent collection including pieces from Western and Eastern Europe, from Scandinavia and the Baltic to the Mediterranean and the Balkans. She argues that the development of elaborate regional dress was not a result of the isolation of its wearers but a signal of their integration into broader European society.
