Favorite thing about Kent State University: The way people make you feel welcomed and how genuine they are to want to get to know you. It definitely has a family atmosphere.

Favorite Book: A Child Called It by David Pelzer

Advice to Students: You must choose to be an active participant in your college experience both academically and socially. At the end of the day, it is your experience and you determine how it plays out.

Favorite thing about Kent State University: There are so many things to love about Kent State. I can appreciate the sense of family on campus when it comes to students, faculty and staff members. I also like how there is always something to do and ways to be involved either on campus or in the community.

Favorite Book: The Heart of a Woman by Maya Angelou and Sula by Toni Morrison

Advice to Students: One of the most important keys to success is having the discipline to do what you know you should do, even when you don't feel like doing it.

JamesVincent Consiglio, Graduate Assistant

Favorite thing about Kent State University: The welcoming people and community atmosphere.

Favorite Book: Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

Advice to Students: Get involved and take advantage of every opportunity.

Thalia Anguiano, Graduate Assistant

Favorite thing about Kent State University: The people. Everyone is welcoming and willing to help you out. It's a community here on campus, which is not something you typically find in a college setting.

Favorite Book: America Needs Talent: Attracting, Educating, and Deploying the 21st Century Workforce by Jamie Merisotis

Advice to Students: One piece of advice that I have for students is to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. You cannot grow as an individual if you are not willing to step out of your comfort zone.

Blissamber White, Graduate Assistant

Favorite thing about Kent State University: Kent State has an amazing atmosphere and truly gives you a diverse student body to gain everlasting friendships. It is such a heart-warming experience to converse and meet individuals, students, faculty and staff who are dedicated to developing students and furthering their education.

Favorite Book: The Story of Joseph which is recorded in the Bible

Advice to Students: Start working towards developing habits that will benefit you as a student as well as in your everyday life. Practice self-care daily, and remember to love and care for yourself physically, mentally and spiritually.

Deven White-Revere, Student Assistant

Favorite thing about Kent State University: The wide range of opportunities that are given at Kent. I feel like everything is a valuable resource here and sometimes we don't even know it.

Favorite Book: Kingdom Man: Every Man's Destiny, Every Woman's Dream by Tony Evans and Letters to a Young Brother: Manifest Your Destiny by Hill Harper

Advice to Students: Take advantage of EVERY opportunity given, offered, etc...  You never know what you need until you need it. Not just in school but with everything in life. "If you're gonna pray, don't worry. If you're gonna worry, don't pray."

Makayla Jackson, Student Assistant

Favorite thing about Kent State University: My favorite thing about Kent State is the resources. There is someone or somewhere I can go to get help with anything that I may need help with, making my college experience more smooth. If I don't know where to go get help, I still can find someone who could help me get in contact with another department or faculty member to assist me.

Favorite Book: If you give a Pigeon a hot dog by Mo Willems

Advice to Students: My advice to students is to take the time to get organized and prepared for college while you are still in high school. Practice using tools such as a planner to organize different things like assignments, work, and extracurricular activities. That way you can plan ahead and will have an idea of how your week may go. Also, get used to reading your syllabus. Your professor may not read off your syllabus to you every day or week, it is your job to make sure you look at it to be sure you are keeping up with your work. Even if school or classes are canceled still follow your syllabus.

Joshua Bellamy, Student Assistant

Favorite thing about Kent State University: Kent State University is great in my opinion. You can easily find your niche and discover other passions that are accessible to you on campus. The faculty members are supportive of students academically, personally and spiritually.

Favorite Book: The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Alex Haley

Advice to Students: My best advice for students is to not be afraid of change. Follow this quote by Lisa Brooks, "I've learned that things change, people change, and it doesn't mean you forget the past or try to cover it up. It simply means that you move on and treasure the memories. Letting go doesn't mean giving up... It means accepting some things weren't meant to be."
