Kent Campus Freshmen and Sophomore Transfer Students
Who is Eligible?
Incoming Freshman and Sophomore Transfer Students (Kent State is accepting 0-59 credit hours) enrolling full-time at the Kent Campus.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- U.S. Citizens or permanent residents.
- Must be classified as an Ohio resident for tuition.
- Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree granting program.
- Must be working toward first bachelor’s degree. Post-undergraduates are not eligible.
- Must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current academic year and have a calculated EFC of 10,000 or less.
- Student must submit all requested financial aid documents to the Student Financial Aid Office and the FAFSA must be free of all holds and processing issues (see financial aid status).
- Student must meet the standards of the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.
- Enrolled full-time at the Kent campus (minimum of 12 credit hours designated as Kent Campus courses) each semester. Courses can be in-person, remote, or online.
HOW TO APPLY

- Submit the FAFSA for the academic year to establish annual eligibility.
- No separate scholarship application is required.
- All students will be screened for eligibility automatically.
- Eligible students will be notified via their Kent State email address.
how scholarship amount is determined
- The Flashes Go Further Scholarship covers the difference between Instructional Fees + General Fees and other grants and scholarships.
- Award will be reduced if the student receives additional tuition-specific scholarships or grants from any source.
- Award may be reduced or cancelled if the student changes their schedule, drops or withdraws from a course, or their tuition charges change for any other reason.

The Flashes Go Further Scholarship cannot be applied to:
- Housing
- Meal plans
- Career Services Fee
- Program fees
- Special Course fees
- Distance learning course fees
- Legal Services Fee
- Flight fees
- Lab fees
- Book fees
- Study Abroad fees
How award is released to students
- If awarded, the tuition portion of the Flashes Go Further Scholarship will be applied to the student’s account.
Scholarship Renewal Criteria
- First-time Freshman, enrolling immediately after high school graduation, may be eligible for a maximum of 8 semesters or until graduation with their bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first.
- Incoming freshmen and sophomore transfer students may be eligible for a maximum of 6 semesters or until graduation with their bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first.
- The award is available only for the fall and spring semesters, but students will be permitted to request 1 of their semesters of eligibility during a summer term.
- This award cannot be extended beyond the 8 or 6 semester limits.
- Student must file the FAFSA every academic year and complete any requests for additional information from the Student Financial Aid Office to establish annual eligibilty.
- The student must demonstrate financial need with an EFC of 10,000 or less, as determined by the results of each year's FAFSA.
- Student must enroll in a minimum of 12 Kent Campus credit hours each semester. Students who do not enroll full-time at the Kent Campus in any fall or spring semester will not be eligible for a future award until their last semester before graduation with their bachelor’s degree.
- Student must meet the Financial Aid Standards of Academic Progress every semester.
