Aeronautics and Technology Building

The College of Aeronautics and Engineering (CAE) has experienced near double-digit growth in recent years, with almost 1,000 students enrolled in one of four Bachelor of Science programs in aeronautics, applied engineering, technology, and construction management. The college is focused on the development of new applied engineering and sustainability programs, including those in alternative energy, manufacturing and green construction.

The new, 55,000-square-foot Aeronautics and Technology building opened for classes in January 2015, and the grand opening was held in April of the same year. This building is the beginning of a comprehensive expansion plan that includes new degree offerings, leading-edge technology and state-of-the-art equipment. 

The new facility faces Summit Street in front of Henderson Hall and between the Mathematics and Computer Science building and the Liquid Crystal Center. Referred to as the Science Corridor, this area speaks volumes about future plans to emphasize STEM in an era of renaissance for all the sciences, and will make Kent State a premier destination for science and technology students from around the world.

The college utilizes state-of-the-art facilities including those at Kent State University Airport and the Air Traffic Control Simulation Lab. Fifteen new aircraft have been purchased for the flight program, and a new master’s program will be offered in the future.
