Nathan Ritchey

Nathan Ritchey is a freshman mathematics and neuroscience major with minors in chemistry and psychology and has always been interested in new discovery and the methodology behind research.

“I believe opportunities to engage in groundbreaking research, such as at Kent State University’s Brain Health Research Institute, are life-changing opportunities that will inspire my studies for years to come,” Nathan said. “The topic of my research concerns the effects of spinal cord injury using a preclinical model.”

Nathan’s research sponsor is Lique Coolen, Ph.D. of the Biological Sciences department.

Supporters of Kent State’s Brain Health Research Institute and our outstanding students are making Jason’s aspiration to contribute to spinal cord injury research a reality.

Nathan has lived all over the Great Lakes area and is currently living in Ravenna, Ohio. Outside of schoolwork, Nathan enjoys spending time as an apiarist, disc golfer and as a volunteer at a local food bank.
