Student cooks working in University Culinary Services see firsthand the fresh ingredients and care that goes into preparing meals at campus dining halls. 

  • Theodore Albrecht, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Music in Kent State University’s Hugh A. Glauser School of Music, was quoted by The New York Times in a story about new findings concerning Ludwig van Beethoven’s health and genealogy. 

  • Innovation Day 2023 was a collaborative effort of the Northeast Ohio Public University Research Alliance (NEO-PURA) comprised of Kent State University, Cleveland State University, Northeast Ohio Medical University, The University of Akron and Youngstown State University. 

  • Kent State University’s men’s basketball team goes by many names: Golden Flashes, Mid-American Conference champions, winners. 

    But Ted McKown, senior associate director of admissions for transfer enrollment, would add “transfer students” to that list. 

    Many of the players on this season’s winning team transferred to Kent State from other colleges, making them part of a group of about 1,200 students who, each year, find themselves at Kent State for a new stop on their educational journeys.

  • Jake Ferri of Billerica, Massachusettes struggled with personal pressure, including turning his wrestling matches into life-or-death situations. That was until he decided to free himself, and the change has been dramatic.  

  • Kent State’s 6’9” center with a deep, booming voice is an imposing force having earned a spot in the starting rotation during his freshman year, but spend a few moments with the team’s top big man — the oldest of seven children — and you’ll find him friendly and approachable.

  • Chris Payton and Miryne Thomas committed to Kent State one day apart last April. While they didn’t know one another, they bonded as transfer players and have helped lead their team to March Madness.

  • Former Golden Eagles basketball standout, Zach Camporese, has just been voted high school Coach of the Year in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association, 6A, District 9 and Overall Coach of the Year for all classifications of District 9 by his peers.

  • Kent State (28-6) will play Indiana on Friday, March 17, in the first round of the NCAA Division 1 Basketball Tournament in Albany, New York. While 13 is typically an "unlucky" number, the Golden Flashes hope it brings them a victory.
