For the second straight year, the Kent State University baseball team has been crowned the outright Mid-American Conference (MAC) regular season champions, a feat now accomplished 14 times in program history.

The Kent State Golden Flashes clinched the title and the No. 1 seed at the MAC Tournament, but the 5-2 win at Ohio University on May 20 secured the outright championship.

After taking the first two games of the series, the OU Bobcats got a one-run lead in the second inning when a hit batter came around to score on a sacrifice bunt.

Forbes has named Kent State University one of America’s Best Midsize Employers. Each year, Forbes surveys employees around the country in a quest to compile a list of companies and organizations that “excel at making their employees feel happy, inspired, and well-compensated,” according to its 2017 ranking site. They formed and divided the roster into two categories: large ones with more than 5,000 employees, and midsize with between 1,000 and 5,000 workers. On the distinctive list of American’s Best Midsize Employers, Kent State ranks 170 out of 301.

David Dees, Ph.D., of Guilford Lake, Ohio, has been selected to serve as dean and chief administrative officer of the Kent State University Columbiana County campuses. He will provide overall leadership of Kent State University at East Liverpool and Kent State University at Salem, two of the Regional Campuses in the university’s eight-campus system. Dees currently serves as interim dean of the Columbiana County campuses, a position he has held since July 1, 2016. He will begin serving as the permanent dean on June 1, 2017.
