In the weeks leading up to Kent State University Decision Day on May 1, incoming students were encouraged to participate in our Future Flashes Instagram contest.

A record number of students sent photos and selfies to the Kent State Admissions Instagram, showing their school spirit and letting us know why they chose Kent State.

Winners for weeks 1 through 3 won a KSU water bottle, notebook, wrist keychain, phone wallet, stickers and a shirt. The grand prize winner took home a KSU knit blanket, sweatshirt, baseball hat, water bottle, notebook, wrist keychain and shirt.

Kent State University would like to thank all incoming students who participated in the Future Flashes Instagram Contest. We enjoyed seeing your posts and celebrating your decision to become a Golden Flash!

"I am committed to Kent State University because I know it is the place where I will grow and flourish as an individual. Growing up in the city of Kent for about eight years, I have felt safe and welcomed in this community. As a queer African American individual, it is always important for me to have a place to express myself without the judgment of others. Kent is full of so many diverse people, shops, restaurants and more. It makes me feel like I belong. I know at Kent State University I will find my own community and will have the opportunity to express my individuality to others like me."
